Today Liz and I attended the annual RSVP Event Expo in Darling Harbour. It is the major expo for the events industry. It is completely over the top, as you would expect from the event industry! Even my brother, who runs his own event company, had a booth. It is definitely an exciting industry to be part of. I definitely saw a few ideas that I can incorporate into my future events. Meeting Andrew Wells from Dru Yoga
Yesterday, Jason and I met with Andrew Wells. Andrew is the Director of Dru Yoga in Australia and he is an international Dru Yoga teacher trainer.
I haven’t had a lot to do with Dru Yoga, though a few of my close Yoga teacher friends are Dru Yoga trained. Jason and I both warmed to Andrew, as he shared stories about Dru Yoga, including their work in war zones implementing detraumatisation programs using Dru Yoga techniques to their focus on using Yoga to assist with stress management in the corporate world. THE FUTURE OF YOGA VIDEO SERIES
Well, we are coming back to earth after our first event with Simon Borg-Olivier on the Ancient Secrets of the Breath! Everything went really well and I want to thank everyone who came along. I also want to thank all the people who sent letters of support in response to my “Should I quit” email. The response has been very heartening! Thank you.
What I am really excited about is our video series on the Future of Yoga in Australia. The response has been incredible! Comments have flowed in from all over Australia. We have had over 500 people watch Part 1 of the series. The number of viewers of all three videos has been steadily climbing since we first started getting the word out! Thank you to everyone who has forwarded the link on to their friends and students. I think it is a really important record of the thoughts of some of our senior Yoga teachers on their view of the Future of Yoga in Australia. Read More.....
How Enlightened Events came about……
I always had a strong interest in meditation and eastern philosophy from a young age. I first started yoga classes during physical education classes in high school, where I found my innate flexibility gave me a distinct advantage.
Years later, when I became pregnant, I learned yoga from an inspiring and knowledgeable teacher, Annette Loudon, who encouraged me to study further and become a yoga teacher. I went to India a year later with my 11 month old daughter. I’m not sure what I was thinking at the time! After becoming a mother, I decided that I wanted the flexibility of running my own business and turned my focus to yoga teaching and spiritual growth. Read More.....
What a Successful Trip to North America
Posted by: Jason Bawden-Smith
Been back a week and still flying high from attending the most incredible workshop I have ever experienced... talk about breakthrough!
Unfortunately I can’t spill the beans just yet. You see, the event was presented by one of the most famous human potential speakers in the world. And you just couldn’t dream of it but he offered us the exclusive rights for his products and programs for Australia and New Zealand. Knock me over with a feather! We are now in final stages of negotiating licensing details and once we have signed the deal I will post an announcement on the blog and also let you all know via twitter. It’s going to be HUGE! My Connection with Our Yoga and Ayurveda Speakers

Why I chose the speakers for our first series of events.....
Simon Borg-Olivier is Australia’s number one yoga celebrity. He really is everywhere! On TV, radio, in every Yoga mag. I don’t know how you could be interested in Yoga and not know about him!
I have attended Simon’s yoga classes at Bondi Junction over the past few years. I love Synergy style yoga! It has really helped with my lower back problems, my core strength and my balance!
I also did Simon’s course in Practical Applied Anatomy & Physiology of Hatha Yoga a few years ago. He really knows his stuff! The course was fascinating and very detailed. Unfortunately, my knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology is fairly inadequate so some of it went over my head. It’s a great course for Yoga teachers to do especially, these days, as students expect Yoga teachers to know everything about A & P and every medical condition that ever existed. I initially met Simon when I asked him to speak at the first conference I organised with the Vedanta Centre back in 2004 and we have a kept in touch ever since. Read More.....
